Wioletta Nowak and Szymon Bierówka – they are the winners of the second edition of the architecture contest “DORMITORIUM. Student Residential Unit”, organized by the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts of the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Academy in Kraków in collaboration with Golub GetHouse, the investor of the modern Livinn Kraków student residence hall currently under construction. The participants of the contest were tasked with designing a residential unit for one or four students at Livinn Kraków. The winners received attractive in-kind prizes. The last edition of the contest will be launched in spring 2019.
Livinn Kraków is a modern student residence hall, currently under construction within a thorough revitalization and modernization scheme for the former Telpod factory building. The residence hall, soon to offer 290 modern residential units, will encourage various activities developing students’ creativity. The foretaste is the cooperation of Golub GetHouse with the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Academy in Kraków and the architecture contest “DORMITORIUM. Student Residential Unit”.
The project is addressed to the students of architecture and interior design of the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts of the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Academy in Kraków and consists of three stages. At each stage, the participants are expected to design specific spaces at Livinn Kraków. In the first edition of the contest the students were expected to design a residential unit for a person with disabilities. The winner of the second edition has just been decided; the students were tasked with designing a dream apartment for 1 or 4 students. The last, spring edition will comprise the common areas of the residence hall, available to all its residents.

‘The participants of the contest have once again shown fantastic skills, creativity and commitment. What makes us very happy is that all the designs were extremely ambitious and truly reflected the nature of our residence hall, which will soon be ready to welcome the first students,’ said Jakub Bartos, Head of Residential, Golub GetHouse. Livinn Kraków is being built in response to the growing demand of people looking for modern and multifunctional spaces in residence halls. University dormitories guarantee accommodation for only 10% of all students, so by filling this gap with a new solution, we are convinced of the success of our investment,’ he added.
The Livinn Kraków residence hall will house 290 residential units of various configurations (from 1 to 4 rooms), designed for 713 students. Each unit – fully fitted out – will have a living room with a space for studying, a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom.
Livinn Kraków will offer students a very wide range of amenities. They will have unlimited access to specially arranged spaces for individual and group learning, a game and entertainment centre, a cinema room, a yoga room. The building will include also a modern gym, a bike storage room, and a laundry room. The building will also have an internal garden with relax zone. The investor is focused on the security of the residents, so the whole building will be CCTV monitored. The reception and security service will be open 24 hours a day. In addition to the amenities designed exclusively for the residents, the facility will also house public spaces, such as a shop, a drugstore, a restaurant and a café on the ground floor, as well as a terrace.
Thanks to its convenient location, the student house will be well connected with the most important Kraków colleges. It is also located in close vicinity to the Old Town and the Kazimierz district, which will, in turn, offer access to the city’s cultural facilities and services, such as museums, art galleries, clubs, restaurants and the Vistula River boulevards.
Livinn Kraków is a project being carried out by Golub GetHouse in cooperation with the US-based CA Ventures International – a company with huge experience in student housing construction in North and South America. The design of the Telpod renovation was provided by a renowned Krakow-based architecture studio IMB Asymetria, and the general contractor is UNIBEP S.A. The completion of construction works has been planned for summer 2019, and the facility will be ready for the first students at the start of the academic year of 2019/2020.
